Green Beans with Bacon is an easy one pan recipe that will be a perfect side dish for any holiday family meal. It cooks in about 30 minutes and is full of flavor from reusing the bacon grease to cook the green beans.

Ingredients
  • 10 slices thick cut bacon cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 1 pound green beans, washed and trimmed
  • 1 sweet onion diced
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
  1. Place a 9 or 10 inch cast iron pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Once the pan is hot, add the bacon pieces and distribute evenly.
  3. Let the bacon cook for 1 minute unmoved, start stirring it with a wooden spoon to cook evenly.
  4. Cook bacon for about 5 minutes, or until crispy. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  5. Drain bacon grease, leaving only about 2 tablespoons.
  6. Add diced onion and garlic, cook stirring for 1 minutes. Add the green beans, saute for 1-2 minutes.
  7. Cover the pan with a lid and cook for 7-8 minutes. Uncovering and stirring ocassionally. Until the green beans are tender. Adjust for salt and pepper.
  8. Add the bacon back to the pan, stir to combine. Cook for 1 more minute.
  9. Serve warm.
