Chick-fil-A Sauce Copycat Recipe

This Chick-fil-A Sauce Copycat is such a hit with my family that I always end up making triple the initial amount. You can use it in many dishes most especially grilled ones.

It is just one of the many dipping sauces that the restaurant offers along with 6 others. But this is my favorite. I like the hint of smokiness in it. And that hint of the mustard flavor simply takes it to another level.

The last time that I went there, I wanted to take home as many packets as I can. But then, I know that it is not sustainable to do that every time. I knew that I needed to have this recipe in my regular repertoire.

So here it is! My homemade recipe for this ultimate favorite. I will no longer need to go to the nearest Chick-fil-A just to enjoy it.

What is Chick-fil-A Sauce made of?

According to their website, the ingredients include the following;

  • xanthan gum
  • natural flavor
  • dehydrated garlic
  • calcium disodium EDTA

But the good news is that this recipe does not need all those ingredients, especially those chemical substances that I am guessing act as stabilizers and preservatives.

That is one beauty of making it at home. We can always choose which ingredients to use and omit chemical preservatives. For this copycat recipe, prepare only the following:

  • honey
  • yellow mustard
  • smoky BBQ sauce
  • lemon juice
  • mayonnaise

How to make Chick-fil-A Sauce copycat?

  • Combine: In a bowl, simply mix the ingredients until uniform in its consistency. Taste and adjust as needed. Then, set aside first.
  • Serve: After 30 minutes, serve alongside your favorite snacks!

What flavor is Chick-fil-A Sauce?

Its most distinct flavor is the smokiness from the BBQ sauce. Pair that with the sweetness of honey and you get something so delightful for grilled and fried main dishes.

The mustard flavor gives it more body, too. And that bit of acidity from the lemon juice simply gives it that freshness to complement the strong flavors.

I like that it has a balance of sweetness and savoriness that are also amplified by the aromatics. And the creamy texture complements the whole thing nicely.

But you can always change the proportions of the ingredients depending on your preference. That is another advantage of making this at home.

You can make it smokier, sweeter, or tangier if you like. When serving this to kids, I usually add more sweetness to it.

What to serve with Chick-fil-A Sauce?

It goes well with anything grilled or fried like nuggets and French fries. And it makes for a great sandwich spread, too, so you can put it in burgers. I even use it on my pizza and quesadilla!

I also like it as a dip for my veggies or potato chips. Any plain cracker or toasties will be a good match as well.

Can you store Chick-fil-A Sauce?

Yes! Just keep it in an airtight container in the fridge. Consume it in 4 or 5 days.

Recipe Tips

  • You can use it as a marinade.
  • If your hickory BBQ sauce is not smoky enough for your taste, adding in a tiny amount of liquid smoke does the trick.
  • Resist the temptation and do not skip on allowing it to rest. This allows the flavors to meld well.
