Easy Chocolate Mint Mousse [Video]
Chocolate Mint Mousse made with just a few ingredients, is a flavorful and creamy take on the classic, more labor-intensive mousse. Watch the recipe short video tutorial below and see how easy and delicious this dessert is!
This is the perfect dessert to enjoy during the holiday season. It is also great for St. Patricks Day, as it is green, delicious, and very festive. Pair it with Garlic Parmesan Pasta or Taco Tortilla Roll Ups for a complete meal.
Chocolate Mint Mousse
This Chocolate Mint Mousse is very flavorful and creamy! The combination of these two together is such a classic, that I never get tired of. I order Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream whenever I see it on the menu. Also, I am always excited about mint and chocolate desserts. It is creamy and it melts in your mouth sweet treat that pretty much beats everything else.
This easy mousse is a “quick fix” of a mousse craving that needs to be quickly tamed. The dessert is made of whipped cream, that has been flavored with cocoa powder for the chocolate layer and peppermint extract for the mint layer.
This is such an easy dessert, that will look stunning and taste delicious. To make this even better, you can layer it with crushed Oreos or Oreo crumbs and sprinkle mini chocolate chips on top. Pipe the “mousse” into individual glasses, garnish with chocolate sauce and fresh mint leaves for a show-stopper dessert! This version is a take on my very popular 5 Minute Peanut Butter Mousse, that you absolutely have to try if you are a peanut butter fan. By the way, you can layer that one with chocolate too!
Recommendations for the perfect Easy Chocolate Mint Mousse Recipe:
- Make sure you use full-fat heavy whipping cream.
- The cream should be very cold, straight from the fridge.
- The mixing bowl, for best results, should be very cold as well. Pop it in the freezer for 10-15 minutes, before you start making the mousse.
- You can add more or less sugar based on your own preference.
- This dessert is also gluten-free.
- You can add layers of Oreo crumbs and mini chocolate chips for extra texture.
- Preferably serve the same day, as the whipped cream tends to dry-out in the fridge if kept too long.
Tools/Ingredients I use to make this Easy Chocolate Mint Mousse Recipe:
- Cuisinart Mixer – I have a Cuisinart Mixer, that I got roughly 5 years ago and I swear by it. Best mixer ever! Also, this one in chrome is stunning!
- Gel Food Coloring – this is the gel food coloring I swear by and always use it in desserts.
Chocolate Mint Mousse made with just a few ingredients is a flavorful and creamy take on the classic, more labor intensive mousse.

- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract more if needed
- 6 drops mint green gel food color

- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- Chocolate sauce
- Fresh mint leaves
-
For best results, chill the mixing bowl for 10 minutes, before making the mousse.
-
Add all the ingredients to the bowl of a high speed mixer and whisk on medium high until stiff peaks form, stopping once to scrape the sides of the bowl with a spatula.
-
Make sure not to over mix, the mixture will be grainy if you do. The mixture should resemble stiff clouds, billowy peaks, not runny, and it should hold on well to the whisk, also if should be easy to pipe it.
