  2. Using a wooden spoon, break in into smaller crumbs and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5-7 minutes or until no longer pink.
  3. Add salt, pepper, thyme, red pepper flakes and chopped cabbage. Add the chicken broth. Stir to combine.
  4. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender.

Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth if needed
  • 1/2 cabbage head chopped
  • 10 slices bacon optional
Instructions
If using Bacon:
  1. Place a 10 inch cast iron pan or frying pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Once the pan is hot, cut the bacon into 1 inch pieces and add to the pan, distribute evenly.
  3. Let the bacon cook for 1 minute unmoved, start stirring it with a wooden spoon to cook evenly.
  4. Cook bacon for about 5 minutes, or until crispy. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  5. Drain bacon grease, leaving only about 2 tablespoons.
Cook Beef and Cabbage:
